Shorthand Reporters are able to type sworn testimony verbatim
at 225+ words per minute using computer-aided transcription.
This
normally takes place in the courts or in deposition settings.
For example: the doctor's office, airport conference rooms, etc.
An accurate transcript in booklet form is then produced to the hiring attorney
and other attorneys present who order copies.
The price is determined per page plus an attendance fee. Travel mileage
is also included if the reporter has to travel over 50 miles from the office.
The price varies from general reporting to highly technical testimony such
as doctors, engineers, specialists, and the like.
Turn around time is normally 10 business days but a product can be expedited
at additional cost. Payment arrangements need to be made in advance of
the deposition. Other products provided are condensed transcripts and ASCII
disks.
